Colonies in the Middle Regions
Trees

When surveyed at close range Trees was discovered to have a rich Earth-like biosphere, although with many distinctive features; particularly the gigantic tree-like organisms supported by gas filled balloons and rope-like vines. The colonists that live on this planet have been aborbed at various times by the Conver Ambi, the Negentropy Alliance, the NoCoZo and Cygexpa, yet continued to retain an independent, naturalistic spirit. For the last thousand years Trees has been an independent world, today considered to be at the edge of the expanding Inner sphere region.

Deucalion

This Mars-like world was discovered 15 light years from Trees; A young world, still retaining its magnetic field and atmosphere, terraforming Deucalion was relatively easy compared to the problems encountered at distant Mars. However the Martian experiment has been a valuable lesson in planetary engineering, and has made the 'greening of the galaxy' a better understood process.

Partly terraformed Deucalion; the process took several hundred years to reach even this stage. The ecosphere of Deucalion was partly based upon that of the nearby planet Trees.
Deucalion has had a checkered political history, entering the Version War on the Negentropist side, then becoming the setting for fierce aesthetic/cultural disputes for many centuries.

Dante

A tidally-locked world orbiting a red dwarf star, Dante nevertheless has indigenous moss-like and rainforest-like ecospheres on the east and western terminators. The colonists had many disputes over territory on this cramped world, but have latterly solved their problems with technology.

The colony ship Lumiere arrives at Dante in 1380 A.T. from Nova Terra.

A comparison between the visual sizes of the local star as seen from the twilight habitable zone of Dante, and the Sun as seen from the surface of Earth (simulated); notice that the red dwarf star HIP 85647 appears much bigger in the sky, despite the fact that it is smaller and cooler.
